Works Segments and Mapping 1.The Road Segments tab has been renamed to Work Segments. 2.Up to 5 road segment numbers can be added. 3.New map viewing options are available. 4.Poly lines (e.g. for trenches) can be marked on the map. See the Mapping section for further details. 5.An excavation point / line can be moved / redrawn - without the need to re-enter the excavation details. Roadway 1.The Roadway 'Material Type' has been renamed to 'Existing Roadway Type'. 2.The options for the roadway type have been changed. 3.The following attributes for Roadway are no longer displayed. •Parking bay markings •Letters and numerals (<= 1.6m) •Letters and numerals (>= 1.6m) •Arrows •Reflectors •Yellow line •Stop line •White line •Dashed line •Pedestrian crossing •Drains •Manholes 4.Geometry has been added for Roadway. 5.Kerb affected has been added for all road part types. Footway / Off Road Cycleway 1.Footpath and bicycle lane have been removed and a new road part called 'Footway/Off Road Cycleway' has been added. 2.The Material Types for Footway/Off Road Cycleway are: •Concrete •Paving Blocks/ Brick/ Cobble •Asphalt/ Bitumen Green Area renamed to Verge 1.The Surface Type Green Area has been renamed to Verge. 2.Distance to Verge has been added. 3.The following attributes for Verge (formerly known as Green Area) are no longer displayed: •Trees •Flower Beds •Shrubs •Grass (m2) •Road Signs •Statues •Pedestrian Lane •Drains |
1.The Dates & Description tab has been renamed to Works Details. 2.The licence Size Category now shows the maximum excavation area allowed, the length of the validity period and the advanced notification period required. 3.The Purpose of Works field has been changed to a drop-down as shown below. The options include: •Telecoms, Foul Sewer •Storm Sewer •Gas Main •Water Main •Survey of Undertakers Apparatus •Other. (If this option is selected, a description field will also be displayed.) 4.The question "Have the relevant Utilities been notified" has been removed. 5.The proposed duration of works start and end date is now known as the "validity period". The applicant no longer has to enter an end date. The end date will be automatically calculated based on the start date entered and the time-frame allowed by the licensing authority. This will be clearly shown to the applicant when choosing the size category. 6.If the applicant or local authority user specifies a start date that does not comply with the advised Advanced Notification Period, a warning message will be displayed. The user can choose to ignore this but will be informed that their application may not be processed. 7.Improvements have been made to the display of the insurance information shown on the licence form. 8.The contact details for an assigned local authority user are no longer visible to an applicant. However, the applicant can now use the Discussions page for raising questions or concerns in regards to the application / licence. The applicant can also use respond to any notifications by using the associated comments field. |
1.The Traffic Management tab has been renamed to Traffic. 2.A Health & Safety coordinator no longer needs to be specified. The information should be identified in the traffic management documentation provided. 3.The Method Statement has been moved from the Works Details (formally Dates & Description) tab to the Traffic tab. 4.The following questions have been removed from the Traffic tab. •Is a temporary street closure required •Are traffic lanes affected (and number) •Are traffic lights affected (and number) •Are traffic loops affected (and inbound and outbound numbers) •Are paid parking bays affected (and number) •Are rail or tram services affected (and number) •Is a bridge crossing required or other areas of engineering difficulty on site * •Are trees affected or located adjacent to the proposed works •Is lighting affected •An information / warning screen has been added when creating an application. This lists road engineering assets which, if affected by the proposed works, require a T1 licence.
5.The following items and associated validation rules have been added to the Traffic tab. •Traffic Management Type •Traffic management inspection routine (the time must be specified for at least one day in a week). •Advance signage distance (measured in metres) •Number of advanced warning signs •Minimum advance sign visibility (measured in metres) •Size of the signs (measured in millimetres) •Height of Cones (measured in millimetres) •Taper type and length (measured in metres) •Taper cone spacing (measured in metres) •Sideways Safety Zone (measured in metres) •Longitudinal Safety Zone (measured in metres) •Longitudinal cone spacing (measured in metres) •Maximum length of shuttle (measured in metres) |
A new section has been added to the Traffic tab for specifying the traffic assets that will be affected by the works. All details will be presented in a table as illustrated below so the applicant can review the traffic assets details provided before submitting the application for processing. |
The Health & Safety Coordinator has been removed. |
When an edit request has been made by the licensing authority, an email will be sent to the applicant identifying the name of the tab and the change required. A pencil The details of the edit request will be displayed at the top of each tab as illustrated below: When the requested changes have been made, the status will be updated to show that it has been completed and the licensing authority will be notified that further processing of the application can proceed. |
Applicants can create a copy of an existing application and make the necessary changes before submitting it. This will be particularly useful where works are being carried out in county boundaries and the application is submitted to the wrong local authority. A copy of the application can be created and the original application withdrawn. This may also be used when an applicant is submitting multiple similar applications to the same local authority. Note, excavations and location details will be retained so these must be modified before submitting the copied application. |
With the introduction of additional licence types, the licence type code is now displayed along with the Licence Code when a licence / submitted application is being viewed. The licence type is also shown when viewing the applications list. |
