A calendar is provided for the applicant to schedule when they will be carrying out site works, indicating the type of work that will be carried out and the contractors and the Signal, Lighting and Guarding cardholder who will be present.

The applicant must submit each works block for approval by the licensing authority.

1.Using the calendar, the applicant can select one or more blocks (of consecutive days) for when works will be carried out. For each day, the type of work that will be performed, the designated SLG Cardholder and the Contractors involved must be indicated.

2.The applicant can submit the works block to the licensing authority for approval. A response will be sent when a decision has been made by the licensing authority.

Before going on the road, the applicant should  open the Works Programme and select 'Activate'  for the works block in question. A reminder will be sent to two days before works are due to start.

This will trigger a notification to be sent to the licensing authority so that they know that works are going ahead.

Once activated, a Works Particulars report can be downloaded from Documents.

As works are completed, the applicant should report the progress by using the Works Programme and selecting 'Complete'  for the works block that has been finished. A reminder will be sent at the end of the day on which works were due to be completed.

If there has been any change to the works carried out, or if the actual date of completion is different to the scheduled date, this can be amended by selecting the 'Update Block' option on the Complete Works Block screen. A 'Change Works End Date' button will be displayed to change the date of completion.

Blocked days are days that the licensing authority has deemed that works are not permitted to be carried out. Such days will be highlighted in red on the Works Programme calendar.

A date selected on the Works Programme calendar will have a background colour that signifies its current state.

Draft  - A block of work days has been created but has not been submitted yet to the licensing authority.

Submitted - The works block has been submitted to the licensing authority for approval.

Approved - The works block has been approved by the licensing authority.

Active - The works block has been activated. Works are in progress or due to commence shortly.

Complete - The licence holder has indicated that the works block has been completed.

Blocked - The licensing authority has blocked the date. No works on the date highlighted can be carried out.

The works programme shows the number of days where works will be carried out on the road and the number of work days allowed remaining.

If required, the licence holder can submit a request for additional days on which work can be performed on the road. (Rules will apply).

An email will be sent to the licensing authority containing details of the request. Once a decision has been made a response will be issued.

The works programme shows the licence validity period start date and end date.

If required, the licence holder can submit a request for a licence extension (rules and conditions will apply).
